Dispatcher and Equans: Streamlining collaboration across multi-technical activities
Discover how the deployment of Dispatcher enabled Equans to unify scheduling across its regional centers, centralize its HR and management data, and maximize construction site profitability.
Guillaume Hanoun: Guillaume Hanoun, agency director of Bouygues Énergies & Services of the Equans group. I oversee four work centers, three outdoor infrastructure centers, and one BMS (Building Management System) center.
Guillaume Sainte Livrade: My name is Guillaume Sainte Livrade, I am a business manager for Tertiary Service Electricity in Auch.
Romain Bouteloup: Romain Bouteloup, site manager at Bouygues Énergies & Services in Auch. I work in partnership with Enedis for everything related to the undergrounding of power lines in the Gers department.
Have you noticed a real before/after with Dispatcher?
Romain Bouteloup: With Dispatcher, there is a better optimization of equipment and resources. We manage to plan it better over the long term. The profitability of the construction sites is therefore improved thanks to the Dispatcher planning tool. Go for it!
Guillaume Hanoun: Before, we were using truly heterogeneous tools. Now, with the use of Dispatcher, we manage to work on the harmonization of practices and a usage where we truly manage to pool teams together.
How did the adoption of the tool go?
Guillaume Hanoun: Of course, imposing something on about a hundred people is not easy. The support by the Dispatcher teams, by Julia, was really very positive. Not all teams progressed at the same pace. There are teams that switched to it immediately. Those that were on paper, for example, saw a very quick gain. For the other teams, it was spread out over a few months, until a truly homogeneous and harmonized usage after a year. The support from Dispatcher is a real plus, because the teams communicate regularly with us and in case of a problem, we can regularly exchange with them.
Have you noticed a time saving thanks to Dispatcher?
Guillaume Sainte Livrade: Indeed, it is a time saving. It is above all reliability regarding the project numbers that our personnel use to log their hours.
Guillaume Hanoun: Dispatcher saves time. Compared to old tools, let’s say there were pros and cons to the others, but it’s really—I insist—on the fact that we can have a quick visual on the different teams and above all a person-by-person planning depending on the different centers. The time saving, in fact, is mainly on the pooling with the other departments of the company, because we have a management department that determines project numbers, an HR department that plans leave, absences, and things like that. And where before we had emails, we had exchanges that wasted time, pooling with these departments saves an enormous amount of time and then above all it avoids repetitions and losing information along the way. The operation of the construction industry (BTP) is evolving, companies are merging. There is more and more need to structure. We can no longer operate like we operated 10 years ago, 20 years ago, the old-fashioned way. Schedules where the guys arrive in the morning and it’s displayed. We live in an increasingly digitalized world, where communication goes faster and faster. Dispatcher fully meets all these demands.
What is your favorite feature on Dispatcher?
Romain Bouteloup: My favorite feature is being able to manage the unavailability of all our employees and even manage the unavailability of equipment, and tracking it on a schedule is an added value.
Guillaume Sainte Livrade: My favorite feature is the audit trail and seeing who touches my time logs once they have been completed.
Guillaume Hanoun: From my point of view, the favorite feature of Dispatcher is having the different centers and being able, in a few clicks, to know where the employee from Cazères is when I am in the Cazères area, to click to quickly know where the teams from Tarbes are, and to be able to have information without traveling in order to manage my teams as accurately and closely as possible.
Dispatcher in 3 words?
Romain Bouteloup: Simple, fluid, readable.
Guillaume Hanoun: So if I had one piece of advice to give to a company, it’s to test Dispatcher because the software fully meets the key usage of the construction sector, I highly recommend it.
